Acne is the most common skin condition encountered in adolescents with a prevalence of 54% and 40% amongst women and men respectively. In most cases, acne clears up as we get older. However, if not properly treated, it can cause permanent scarring and pigmentations to the skin.
Acne usually starts in puberty, where the body is experiencing changes in hormones level. This stimulates the sebaceous gland to produce more oil, called sebum. Sebum is transported onto the skin surface via the hair follicles.
Chemical peels are used mainly for epidermal exfoliation! This can prevent blockage of the pores and levelling out superficial scars.

Are there any contraindications for RF treatment?
Pregnancy and lactation
Wearing a pacemaker
Any vascular disease
History of herpes simplex
History of Keloid
Taking blood thinning medication
Photodynamic Therapy (PDT)
Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) reduces sebaceous secretion, helps in reducing inflammation, decreasing the redness and pigmentations left behind by the lesions.
Fractional Radiofrequency by needles
Fractional Radiofrequency by needles, is the ability to restructure the skin’s dermal collagen matrix. Instead of applying heat to the skin surface, like in laser treatment, RF energy penetrates deeply into the dermis, without heating the epidermis, using tiny gold needles to carry the energy directly into the lower skin layers, stimulating natural collagen and elastin production. As the collagen is released and goes to work, it restructures the skin layers without causing any injury.
The beauty of this process is that the release of the collagen and elastin goes to the site of the needling, but also to the surrounding area. It has been shown by research to tighten and rejuvenate the skin.On the technical side of things, the Fractional Radiofrequency by needles technology uses a matrix of gold coated insulated micro-needles, which are placed over the skin, and which carefully pierce the dermis to release localized RF energy, without releasing any potentially damaging heat into the outer skin layer, the epidermis.
Here at Zain Specialized Clinic, our RF machine is different from others, as our micro-needles can be adjusted for length. We alter this according to your skin type, condition and treatment area, enabling us to tailor your treatment specifically to your needs. This also allows us to address a wide range of skin conditions, while causing fewer side effects and requiring little down-time.
How many RF treatments are recommended?
We achieve the best results through a sessions of treatments with six weeks between each treatment to allow maximum time for collagen and elastin production and skin rejuvenation. For serious conditions, additional treatments may be necessary after a few months or so.
What should I do before and after the treatment?
It is best to stay out of the sun for the month preceding your treatment, as well as after treatment. If you know you will be exposed to the sun, make sure you apply a high SPF sunscreen to protect your skin from UV rays.
No other skin treatments should be undertaken in the three weeks preceding and following your treatment. This includes waxing, peeling, laser treatments and any kind of skin resurfacing.
Please ensure the area to be treated is cleanly shaven and hair-free for your treatment.
Laser decreases sebaceous glands secretion (reducing “oily face” appearances), tightens collagen fibers which in turn decreases the pore size and resurface deeper acne scars!
Fractional Radiofrequency by Non-needling
In Non-needle Fractional Radiofrequency application, a hand piece sends focused Radiofrequency energy to both the epidermis and dermis, which stimulates the release of collagen and elastin, tightening the skin’s tone and texture through limited thermal effect. This technology removes damaged skin cells, smoothing mild wrinkling and other skin unevenness. It resurfaces the outer skin layers, resulting in a refreshed, youthful appearance.
What happens during Fractional Radiatio Freaquency by Needles and Non – Needles?
When you come into Zain Specialized Clinic for treatment, we begin by assessing the area you wish to be treated, and advising on the best treatment for your skin type and condition. Then we clean the skin from all cosmetics, and apply a numbing cream to the area to minimize any discomfort caused by the micro-needles.
The numbing cream is left to take effect for 30-40 minutes, then treatment can begin. We adjust the energy setting and depth of needling, depending on your tailored treatment plan. Our highly-trained therapists gently move the RF hand piece over the skin, sometimes passing several times if the skin condition is severe, such as for acne scars and stretch marks.
You will experience some discomfort, though this is minimized by the numbing cream applied before treatment began. After the treatment, we use a cool compress to calm the skin, then we apply after-care cream that will improve the results of the treatment, while also preventing any irritation or other side effects.
Are there any side effects for Fractional Radiofrequency treatment?
Fractional Radiofrequency by needles does not have any serious side effects, so this treatment does not require you to take extra time out of your normal day.
You may experience some mild redness and swelling post treatment, which can last for a few days. Applying a cooling gel such as Aloe Vera and Tea Tree and cold compresses are very helpful if you are experiencing any discomfort when you are at home.
For conditions requiring a tougher approach, such as acne scars and stretch mark the area treated may develop a light crust that will flake over the coming days as the skin regenerates. This regeneration process can last from 3 days to 3 weeks, and we recommend you use high-quality moisturizers and protect your skin during this time.
